Lecture by the historian Pavlos Vassiliadis on “Greek Revolution and Balkan cooperation: Aspects and correlations of the actions of Ypsilantis – Vladimirescu in Moldavia and Wallachia in 1821.
The attempted approach of this lecture focuses on the Balkan aspect of the Greek national liberation struggle, which played an important role in the course of the revolutionary developments in Moldavia in the first half of 1821.
Particular emphasis will be given to the aspects that brought together and sometimes separated the two great revolutionary movements of Alexandros Ypsilantis and Tudor Vladimirescu in the geographical area of the Danubian Principalities. Based on the recorded events, we will try to give an unbiased interpretation of the Greek Revolution as a pan-Balkan event.
